I have an envelope, what should I fill out?
If you are not sure where you should put what you give on your envelope, you should place the total amount you are giving under the Tithe category. This allows your donation to be fully tax-deductible, and allows New Point Church to use the amount you give wherever it is needed in ministry. If you would like to specify that a portion of your donation is over and above your Tithes (which is a fancy way of saying 10% of your earnings), you may specify that amount under the Offering category. This still allows New Point Church to use the amount you give wherever it is needed in ministry, and it will also reflect in your end of year giving statement issued to you by New Point Church for your records.
What are some specific funds I can donate to?
There are nine specific funds that you can donate to:
- Benevolence
- Building
- Bus
- Food Pantry
- Meal Ministry
- Outreach
- Special
- Worship
- Youth
Where do the donations I send for specific funds go?
Benevolence:
Donations go to persons who apply for a benevolence grant for things like utility and housing payments, and other basic necessities. Applicants are screened by the New Point Church Board for approval who then vote on the resulting action and amount given.
Building:
Donations cover the cost of building related expenses like the rent/mortgage, insurance, development and improvements, repairs, and other such related costs.
Bus:
Donations cover the cost of purchasing a church bus, fuel, wash and road services, repairs, and other such related costs.
Food Pantry:
Donations cover the cost of restocking everyday essentials given to members and the community alike.
Meal Ministry:
Donations cover the cost of preparing meals for Wednesday Bible Studies and Sunday Morning Breakfasts. New Point Church holds a firm belief that we should nourish both the spirit and the body in order to better worship and serve our community.
Outreach:
Donations cover the cost of operating community outreach events on or near holidays, print marketing and social media advertising for these events, and other such related costs.
Special:
Donations cover the cost of rotating categories and events, often closely related to upcoming events or holidays. These can include Easter candy, New Point Church Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, grilling supplies for Father's Day cookout, etc.
Worship:
Donations cover the cost of equipment for the Worship Team of New Point Church, and licensing for songs and programs for displaying lyrics on screen.
Youth:
Donations cover the cost of supplies and educational materials for New Point Youth Staff to create fun, age-appropriate, and engaging lessons that instill Christian values into the kids who will be the root and future of our community.
